How to check the contents of your intrd. RHEL Fedora Debian

[root@localhost manuke]# cp /boot/initrd-2.6.29.4-167.fc11.x86_64.img /home/manuke/

[root@localhost manuke]# ls
initrd-2.6.29.4-167.fc11.x86_64.img

[root@localhost manuke]# mv initrd-2.6.29.4-167.fc11.x86_64.img initrd-2.6.29.4-167.fc11.x86_64.gz

[root@localhost manuke]# ls
initrd-2.6.29.4-167.fc11.x86_64.gz

[root@localhost manuke]# gzip -d initrd-2.6.29.4-167.fc11.x86_64.gz

[root@localhost manuke]# ls
initrd-2.6.29.4-167.fc11.x86_64

[root@localhost manuke]# cpio -i -d < initrd-2.6.29.4-167.fc11.x86_64
15837 blocks

[root@localhost manuke]# ls

bin dev etc init initrd-2.6.29.4-167.fc11.x86_64 lib lib64 proc sbin sys sysroot usr
